Karwar airport gains momentum

Karwar, Sep 06: The state government which is keen on setting up airport at Karwar, Vijayapura and Shivamogga, has constituted a committee to monitor and supervise the construction work.

The Committee has the Managing Director of KSIIDC as the chairman of the committee. Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district (Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga and Vijayapura), AII representative, and Chief Engineer of PWD are the members, and Executive Engineer, PWD of the concerned airport is the member secretary.

The Committee has been entrusted with the task of reviewing, monitoring, and supervising the design, expenditure, and progress of construction works.

It will also have to take all actions for securing the required licenses under the DGCA and BCAS guidelines.

The committee will hold periodic review meetings regarding the subject matter and report compliance to the government.
