Revenue Minister announces ₹ 5 crore for Udupi

Udupi, Aug 07: Revenue Minister R Ashoka has announced ₹5 crore to Udupi district for flood relief works.
He is on his two-day visit to coastal districts.
After landing at Mangaluru International Airport, Ashoka along with Port and Fisheries Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary left to Udupi and witnessed the damage caused due to sea erosion at Padubidri.
The sea has eroded near the proposed Blue Flag beach.
“The Deputy Commissioner already has ₹ 3.50 crore for the flood and flood-relief works. In addition to this I have granted ₹ 5 crore today,” Ashoka told reporters.
“I have witnessed the damage due to sea erosion. I have asked the officials to prepare an estimate for the construction of a permanent sea wall. Once the estimate is prepared the money would be released for that,” he said.
Ashoka said that the situation was under control in the state.
“The fire, revenue and police department are geared up and taken all precautionary measures,” he added.
