Udupi, July 16: After many days Udupi district witnessed an increase in COVID positive cases again. The district recorded 109 cases and two deaths on Thursday.
Of the total positives, 36 are from Udupi, 62 from Kundapur and 11 from Karkala. The total number of positive in the district is 1895. Of this 1462 have recovered and 428 are active cases. Today 80 were discharged from the hospital. 
With two doctors, four staff, and about seven patients testing positive in the Government hospital, the hospital has been sealed down.
Officials said that the OPD will be shut for two days. New admissions would be done after two days when the hospital would be sanitized.The family members of the patients too have been advised not to come to the hospital these days.
Meanwhile, the district has recorded three death of which one patient is from Uttara Kannada.
A 49-year-old person from Udupi Taluk died after he had a breathing problem. Another patient from Byndoor Taluk died while being brought to the hospital from Kundapur hospital.
