Mangaluru: Former Mayor and President of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Muslim Sanghatanegala Okkuta K Ashraf has asked Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to open all the religious places at the earliest.

“After Chief Minister’s meeting today, minister Kota Srinivas Poojary told reporters that the temples would be open for public from June 1. We are also told that there is no such decision on places of worship of other religions,” Ashraf stated in the letter mailed to the Chief Minister.

“We are saddened by this decision. The Government can not withhold the right to worship. People would suspect the move of the government if only temples are opened without granting permission to Churches, Mosques, and Gurudhwaras,” he said.

“The government should decide on opening the places of worship of all the religion,” he said adding that the Mosques should be opened at the earliest as Muslims have cooperated with the government in controlling COVID.
