Udupi: A fishing boat sunk after it hit a rock in the Arabian sea off Malpe harbour.

Sources said the deep-sea fishing boat ‘Shri Swarnaraj’ owned by Reshma Kharvi left Malpe fishing harbour on May 14. On May 19 the boat with 6 fishermen was returning when the steering of the boat accidentally broke and the boat hit the rock at the sea. The boat was almost the entry of the harbour when the incident took place.

The fishermen of the nearby fishing boat immediately jumped into action and rescued all the 6 in ‘Shri Swarnaraj.’

A case is registered at Coastal Security Police station.
The loss is estimated to be around Rs 5 lakh.
