Mangaluru: Failing to respond to treatment, the 58-year-old woman (P-536) COVID patient from Boloor village in Mangaluru, passed away on Wednesday.

With this, the total number of deceased in Dakshina Kannada district has increased to 4.

The patient was under treatment at a private hospital from April 10 and 17 for brain-related illness.
She was shifted to a private hospital after tested COVID-19 positive on April 28.

Her health condition was very critical and was under ventilator support at the ICU. She did not respond to medicines and died on May 13 at 12.45 pm, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said.

Meanwhile, with P-947 testing positive, the district administration has declared the area near her house at Pilar in Someshwar Village of Mangaluru as a containment zone on Wednesday.

Mangaluru Tahsildar has been appointed as the incident commander who would be overall in charge of the zone.
