Case booked against a family from Kerala for illegally entering Mangaluru through sea route
On April 9 a person by name Yakoob (48) from Kerala came to Talapady (in Karnataka) with his family members by boat using the sea route.
Police probing the case came to know that one Shakir allegedly helped Yakoob.
“Shakir had allegedly helped the transit and provided all logistical support for Yakoob and his family members to land at Talapady and then cross over to Addur,” Mangaluru City Police Chief Dr. P S Harsha said.
He blatantly put himself, his family members and also the general public at a risk. This attracts penal provisions.
He said that Yakoob had violated all norms issued by the central and the state governments to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
A case is registered at Bajpe Police Station against Yakoob and six others. The investigation is under progress.
“He blatantly put himself, his family members and also the general public at a risk and that attracts penal provisions under various sections of the law,” he said.
All have been sent for medical checkups to Wenlock Hospital.
“The quarantine status of the individuals would be monitored in liaison with the District Health Officers,” the Commissioner added.
