First COVID-19 positive patient in Dakshina Kannada discharged from hospital
The 22 year old, a native of Bhatkal, had landed at Mangaluru International Airport from Dubai on March 19
Mangaluru, April 06: “I don’t know how I came into contact with the COVID-19 virus. But as there were symptoms the Doctors took me to to the hospital as soon as I landed in Mangaluru. This ensured COVID-19 did not spread to my family members and my villagers. I am thankful to the district administration for all the help and service they offered,” said the first COVID-19 positive patient detected in Dakshina Kannada district.
The 22-year-old from Bhatkal of Uttara Kannada district who was into branded watch business in Dubai was the first COVID-19 positive case detected in Dakshina Kannada district.
He had symptoms of COVID-19 when he landed at Mangaluru International Airport on March 19 and so was taken directly to Government Wenlock Hospital.
“People need not fear COVID-19. But the patient must be under quarantine to ensure that he does not spread the virus to others including his near and dear ones. I have felt that self-confidence plays an important role in this fight against the virus,” he said.
He thanked the treatment of the doctors, service of the hospital staff and blessings of the God which helped him in getting cured at the earliest.
He also lauded the government’s move of LockDown and said that it would help in controlling the virus.
“It is important that everybody remains inside the house and strictly follow the government’s instruction. Symptoms of COVID-19 are identified only after a few days. So it is important to have restrictions on the movement of the people,” he added.
He left to his house on Monday morning after thanking the district administration and hospital authorities for the good service.
Three people from Kasargod district under treatment for COVID-19 in Mangaluru were also discharged on Monday.
