Seperate quarantine facility to foreign returned citizens in Bhatkal
Karwar, March 29:
Uttara Kannada district administration has taken a major step to stop further spread of COVID-19 at Bhatkal.
In first of its kind, the district administration has decided to shift the foreign returned to seperate quarantine facility.
Bhatkal is the only Town in the entire state which has 6 COVID-19 positive cases. All are under treatment at Navy Hospital at Karwar.
It has also been noted that three had got COVID-19 due to their contact with the family member who had returned from Dubai on March 19.
The district administration has already declared Health Emergency at Bhatkal and is taking all necessary steps to curtail COVID-19.
But as there are possibility of family members of the foreign returned getting COVID-19, the district administration has decided to shift all the foreign returned citizens in Bhatkal who have come after March 15th, to a separate quarantine facility. This is to avoid further family contacts.
“All the identified primary contacts are already in govt quarantine centres,” Deputy Commissioner Dr K Harish Kumar said.
“We request cooperation from the people by maintaining social distancing to avoid further wide-spread of COVID-19,” he said.
