Ten months old baby boy tested COVID-19 positive in Dakshina Kannada
Mangaluru, March 27: A ten-month-old baby boy was been tested positive for COVID-19 in Dakshina Kannada district on Friday.
Health department officials said that the child along with the mother and grandmother is under observation at the hospital and is likely to be cured shortly.
The child hails from Sajipanadu of Bantwal Taluk in Dakshina Kannada district. The village has been identified as a cluster and all the procedure as per the Cluster Containment Protocol has been initiated.
Those who had contact with the child are being identified and if needed heir swabs too would be collected and sent to lab.
“The entire village has been quarantined. Neither anybody can enter the village nor the inmates go out,” the DHO stated in a press statement.
Health department officials said that the mother and the child had been to a function at Monetepadau village a few days ago. Montepadau is a small village situated on the Karnataka Kerala border.
Later the child developed fever and respiratory illness and immediately, on March 23 the child was admitted to the nearby hospital. Due to the symptoms of COVID-19, the swab was sent for testing and the lab has confirmed COVID-19.
