Mangaluru, March 24: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel visited Wenlock Hospital on Tuesday.
Amid mounting public concern over COVID-19, an audio went viral on social media where two women were heard expressing concern over the safety and the way patients were being treated in the hospital.
This message had raised the concern of Mangaloreans and many people had contacted the elected representatives including Member of Parliament and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel to get clarification.
Nalin Kumar Kateel who was in Delhi on Monday to attend the session realized the concern of the people Nalin immediately rushed to Bengaluru from where he traveled by road to Mangaluru and on Tuesday morning visited Wenlock Hospital.
Mr Kateel held meeting with top officials including Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, District Health and Family Welfare Officer and the Superintendent of Wenlock Hospital.
The Deputy Commissioner informed the MP that a separate block has been set up to treat COVID-19 patients.
She said that only one positive case has been detected till date and one COVID-19 suspect is under observation.
“There is no need to fear as we have a facility to treat 200 people in the intensive care unit,” she added.
