Udupi, Jan 14, 2026: In view of the Paryaya Mahotsava at Udupi Sri Krishna Matha, the district administration has announced traffic restrictions, diversions, and parking prohibitions within Udupi city limits to ensure smooth movement of devotees and the general public.

Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Swaroopa T.K. has issued an order under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Rule 221(A)(2) and (5) of the Karnataka Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. The restrictions will be in force from 2 pm on January 17 to 7 am on January 18.

Vehicles Coming from Mangaluru towards Udupi and Manipal:

  • From 2.00 pm on January 17 to 7.00 am on January 18, vehicles shall proceed directly on NH-66, reach Karavali Junction, and then enter Udupi city and the service bus stand via Bannanje Road, before proceeding towards Manipal.
  • Entry of all vehicles into Udupi city will be prohibited from 7.00 pm to 7.00 am.
  • During this period, Karavali Junction will serve as the terminal point. Passengers shall be dropped and picked up at Karavali Junction, after which vehicles must return towards Mangaluru via Ambalapadi and Balaipade on NH-66.
  • Vehicles proceeding to Manipal must continue from Karavali Junction via Ambagilu, Perampalli Road, Coin Circle, and Syndicate Circle, and then proceed towards Manipal and Karkala.

Vehicles Coming from Kundapura towards Udupi and Manipal:

  • Until 7.00 pm on January 17, all vehicles coming via the Kundapura–Brahmavar route may enter Udupi city through Ambagilu, reach Karavali Junction via NH-66, and proceed via Bannanje Road to Udupi city and the service bus stand.
  • From 7.00 pm to 7.00 am, entry of all vehicles from Kundapura into Udupi city is prohibited.
  • During this period, Karavali Junction will be the terminal point. Vehicles must drop passengers there and return towards Kundapura via Nittur, Ambagilu, and Santhekatte.
  • Vehicles proceeding to Manipal must take Ambagilu–Perampalli Road, Coin Circle, and Syndicate Circle, and continue towards Manipal and Karkala.

Vehicles Moving To and From Kukikatte, Moodubelle, Alevooru, Korangrapady, and Bailoor:

  • Until 7.00 pm on January 17, vehicles to and from these areas may enter Udupi city and the service bus stand via Chitpadi, Beedinagudde, Sharada Kalyana Mantapa, and Kalsanka.
  • From 7.00 pm to 7.00 am, entry of all vehicles into Udupi city is prohibited.
  • During this period, Mission Compound Road via Beedinagudde and Chitpadi will be the terminal point, and vehicles must return from there.

Vehicles Coming from Karkala–Manipal towards Udupi City:

  • Until 7.00 pm on January 17, vehicles from Karkala and Manipal may enter Udupi city and the service bus stand directly via Kalsanka.
  • From 7.00 pm to 7.00 am, entry of all vehicles into Udupi city is prohibited.
  • During this period, vehicles must proceed from Syndicate Circle, Manipal, via Coin Circle, Perampalli, Ambagilu, and Nittur, reach Karavali Junction, which will serve as the terminal point, and then return via the same route towards Manipal and Karkala after dropping and picking up passengers.

Vehicles Travelling from Mangaluru towards Mumbai and Hubballi:

  • On the evening of January 17, all private and KSRTC buses bound for Mumbai and Hubballi must board passengers at Balaipade.
  • All private and KSRTC buses bound for Bengaluru must board passengers at Manipal Inn.
  • Until 7.00 pm on January 17, all private and KSRTC buses travelling from Mangaluru towards Mumbai and Bengaluru may enter via Balaipade, Ambalapadi, Karavali Junction, Bannanje, City Bus Stand, and KSRTC Bus Stand, pick up passengers, and continue their journey via the same route.
  • From 7.00 pm to 7.00 am, entry of all vehicles into Udupi city is prohibited.
  • During this period, all private and KSRTC buses bound for Mumbai and Bengaluru must terminate at Karavali Junction and board passengers on both service roads there before proceeding further.

Vehicles Coming from Malpe towards Udupi:

  • Until 6.00 pm on January 17, all buses from Malpe may enter Udupi city via Adi Udupi, Karavali Junction, and Bannanje.
  • From 7.00 pm to 7.00 am, entry of all vehicles into Udupi city is prohibited.
  • During this period, all vehicles from Malpe must proceed only up to Adi Udupi Junction and return via the same route.
  • Vehicles heading towards Mangaluru and Kundapura must proceed via Karavali Junction.

No-Parking Zones on Roads Approaching Udupi Sri Krishna Math:

From 2.00 pm on January 17 to 7.00 am on January 18, parking of all types of vehicles on roadside is prohibited at the following locations:

  • From Ambalapadi to Jodukatte (both sides)
  • From Brahmagiri to Bannanje
  • From Lion Circle to Mission Compound
  • From Bethel Church to Syndicate Circle
  • From Syndicate Circle to Triveni Junction
  • From Hanuman Junction (Triveni Junction) to Sanskrit College Junction
  • From Palimaru Math Gate on Kanakadasa Road
  • From City Centre to Chitranjan Circle and up to Mitra Hospital
  • Ideal Junction, LVT Tenkapete Temple up to PPC College
  • From Ideal Junction via Harishchandra Road up to Vidyodaya School
  • From Kalsanka to Rajangana parking area
  • From Ocean Pearl Hotel via Kattae Acharya Road up to Mathura Hotel

Entry and parking of all vehicles are completely prohibited on the Ratha Beedis (car streets) surrounding Sri Krishna Math, Udupi.

Parking of light motor vehicles and two-wheelers is permitted behind Pejawar Math, while parking is prohibited from Woodland Hotel to the rear side of Pejawar Math.

As large public participation is expected on the Pura Pravesha and Horakanike days, parking is prohibited from Triveni Junction to Sanskrit College, and from Palimaru Math Gate on Kanakadasa Road, from January 10 to January 18 (evenings).

Additionally, from 9.00 am on January 17 to 7.00 am on January 18, vehicular movement and parking are prohibited on both sides of the road at Swagata Gopura, Kinnimulki, Govinda Kalyana Mantapa, Jodukatte, Lion Circle, Diana Circle, Mitra Junction, Ideal Junction, and Tenkapete Road, according to a release from the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
