Dharmasthala: Bhajana Kammata Spreads Dharma and Devotion, says Odiyuru Swamiji

Ujire, Sept. 21, 2025: “Bhajana Kammata is not merely a gathering of devotional songs, it is a spiritual journey that reveals the essence of Sanatana Dharma and culture, leading to the realization of the Divine,” said Odiyuru Gurudevananda Swamiji.
He was delivering his benedictory address at the valedictory of the 27th annual Bhajana Kammata held at Dharmasthala on Sunday.

Swamiji observed that bhajana is inseparably tied to culture, and when performed with steadfast devotion, it leads to divine experience. Through bhajana, one can attain the four goals of life—Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. “In today’s times, online distractions are weakening our lifeline. Instead, the stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata continue to guide us towards a purposeful life,” he remarked.
He commended Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade for his invaluable contribution to uniting and strengthening Hindu society through the Bhajana Kammata. “Bhajana awakens sattvic energy, removes fear and hatred, instills love and faith, and builds a healthy and harmonious society,” he said.
Addressing the gathering, MP Brijesh Chowta noted that the nation’s strength lies in the survival of dharma and culture. “Bhajana inspires the revival of Sanatana Dharma, fostering unity and concentration among the people,” he said.
MLC K. Pratap Simha Nayak, offering his wishes, said the sacred atmosphere of Dharmasthala fills devotees with devotion and faith. He suggested that every household should dedicate at least one day a week to bhajana, as it brings peace and serenity to homes and society.
Presiding over the programme, Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade expressed happiness that women and children are actively participating in bhajana. He advised bhajanapatu (devotional singers) to cultivate leadership qualities based on mutual love and trust.

Krishna Poojari from Kundapura and Kumari Bhavishya from Nelyadi shared their impressions of the camp.
The programme was attended by Hemavati V. Heggade, D. Surendra Kumar, Anita Surendra Kumar, D. Harshendra Kumar, Supriya Harshendra Kumar, and Shraddha Amit.
Bhajana Kammata secretary A.V. Shetty presented the annual report. Subrahmanya Prasad welcomed the gathering, Chandrashekhar Salyan proposed a vote of thanks, and Srinivas Rao conducted the programme.
