Kasarakod Blue Flag attracts tourists’ attention
Karwar, Nov 04: While the Kasarkod beach in Honnavar taluk used to attract nature lovers and beachgoers, the ‘Blue Flag’ tag has come to an additional flavor attracting more tourists.
Kasarkod beach of Uttara Kannada district is one among the eight beaches in the country that was conferred the blue flag tag on October 11.
Kasarkod beach in Uttara Kannada district is adjacent to the Goa-Mangaluru highway (NH 66) and about 5 km from Honnavar Town. Many people traveling on the Kerala -Goa highway (NH 66), have started making it a point to spend some time at this beautiful beach.
While the number is increasing over the weeks, the number swelled to over 3,500 last Sunday. It is a record by itself.
While earlier the number of tourists was limited, the blue flag tag has brought this beach to the tourist map. Situated between the two famous tourists and religious spots, Gokarna and Murudeshwar, this place is all set to attract more people.
“It is a good development that the number of tourists visiting the beach has increased. While entry to the beach is free, a nominal charge is applied for the facilities there to make the beach self sustain. In the coming days we want to provide more facilities and activities for the tourists,” Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar told The Canara Post.
