Public Urged to Verify Information
Karwar, Aug 03, 2024: The district administration is working diligently to address the damage caused by heavy rains and restore normalcy in the affected areas. However, false messages and videos showing damage are circulating in local WhatsApp groups, potentially causing further distress among victims.
The district administration has taken these misleading messages and videos seriously. Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of District Disaster Management Authority Lakshmi Priya has warned that strict action will be taken against individuals who spread false information that misleads the public.
She has issued a statement urging the public to verify the authenticity of any information before sharing it.
