Festivities drive up prices of Mallige and Jaaji

Udupi, Oct 17: With the beginning of Navarathri, the flower price, especially Jaaji has shot up. For the first time after Lockdown, the price has crossed ₹ 1,000 (Per atti) on Saturday.

Jaaji and Shankarpura Mallige have good demand during Navarathri. 

As Jaaji flower blooms in the evening, devotees and temple authorities purchase the flower to be used during ‘Hoovina Pooje,’ and ‘Ranga Pooje.’

With limited flower and great demand during Navarathri, flower stall owners feel that the rate may continue to be around 1,000 for the next week.
