Manipal: Jyoti Dogra to Present Thought-Provoking Play “Maas”
Manipal, September 28, 2023: The Hebbar Gallery and Art Centre (HGAC) is set to host a captivating theatrical performance that promises to captivate, educate, and entertain its audience. Renowned actor Jyoti Dogra will take the stage with her one-woman play, “Maas,” on Friday, September 29th, 2023, starting at 6 p.m. The venue for this compelling event will be the Gangubai Hanagal Auditorium, Manipal Centre for Humanities.
“Maas” is a unique theatrical creation that seamlessly blends English and Hindi to explore contemporary societal themes. Through humor and incisive critique, the play delves into topics such as diet culture, the influence of social media personalities, internalized patriarchy, body shaming, and the complex interplay between the fashion and health industries.

“We find ourselves at the deep end of the shallow business of beauty. And we drown in the not so shallow waters of shame, self-loathing, inadequacy, and anger towards our own bodies, subjecting it to all kinds of violence. This violence is subtle, layered, and surprisingly funny! It’s funny, until it’s not” she says.
This compelling performance is open to the public and free. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and doors will close promptly at 6.15 pm.
