St. Mary’s College and 21 Karnataka Battalion NCC collaborate for a successful World Earth Day celebration
Udupi, April 18, 2023: St. Mary’s Shirva NCC unit of the college, in collaboration with 21 Karnataka Battalion NCC, Udupi, marked World Earth Day with a grand celebration.
Rovers Scout leader of the college, Prakash, delivered an address as the chief guest and emphasized that environmental protection is the responsibility of every citizen. He also highlighted the significance of the day in promoting environmental protection, green living, and addressing the climate crisis.
Dr. Herald Ivan Monis, the principal of the college and the president of the celebrations, stressed the importance of environmental protection, stating that every individual should take part in protecting the environment by adopting eco-friendly practices such as recycling, green energy production, green transportation development, and eco-friendly industrialization. Dr. Monis also commended the NCC unit of the college for organizing the event.
The NCC officer of the college, Lt. K. Praveen Kumar, administered the oath and guided the program, while Cadet Punya HR gave an introductory speech explaining the significance of the event. On the same occasion cadetsPooja, Loy Winston Fernandes, Anup Nayak, and Alistar Sujay D’Souza, were honored for their participation in various training programs and achievements.
The program was attended by Lance Corporal Anish Bhat, Shettigar Hemasree Sudarshan, and other cadets. Cadet Vishal Terence Vaz assisted and was welcomed by Jiya C Poojary, while Cadet Sonali Kulal compered the program. Manish Karkera Sivananda concluded the event by proposing a vote of thanks.
