Manipal Police seize ganja and MDM
Manipal, Feb 22, 2023: Continuing their crackdown on drug trafficking, officials of the Manipal Police station apprehended a person and seized ganja and MDM from his possession. The incident took place on Feb 21, near the Regional Transport office, Manipal.
Acting on credible information, the Manipal Police Inspector carried out a search operation on a person identified as Iqbal Shekh (32) of Korangrapady.
During the search, the police found 136 grams of ganja (in a cover) and 0.36 grams of MDM (in a cover) in his possession. Additionally, the police also recovered a mobile phone, a wifi router, a two-wheeler, and a sum of cash from him.
Following the seizure of drugs and other materials, the police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The case has been registered under sections 8 (c), 20 (b)(ii)(A), 21 (b), and 22 (b).
The NDPS Act is a strict law that criminalizes the production, trafficking, and consumption of illegal drugs in India.
