Jyotiraditya Scindia launches Bhubaneswar-Kolkata-Jamshedpur flight
New Delhi, Jan 31, 2023: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia along with General Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh inaugurated the Bhubaneswar-Kolkata-Jamshedpur flight route, operated by IndiaOne Air.
The daily operations will start on February 1st, 2023, under the RCS-UDAN program.
In his speech at the inauguration, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia celebrated the connecting of three significant cities across three states via this flight route, reflecting the Prime Minister’s goal of nationwide air connectivity. Scindia highlighted how the UDAN scheme has revived the aviation industry, leading to the creation of three new regional airlines. He mentioned that before 2014, there were only 74 operational airports in India, but with the addition of Jamshedpur and upcoming Shivamogga airport in February 2023, the number will reach 148.
Scindia emphasized the government’s efforts in enhancing Jharkhand’s civil aviation infrastructure, mentioning that previously there was only one airport. He mentioned the Prime Minister’s recent inauguration of a second airport in Deoghar and that the Airports Authority of India is investing in the development of Dumka (Rs 30 crore) and Bokaro (Rs 75 crore) airports, with flight operations to commence shortly.
Minister of State congratulated IndiaOne Air and said that this connectivity will play a big role in improving communication and boosting economic activities in the region.
The occasion was graced by Hemant Soren, CM of Jharkhand, Banna Gupta, Minister Govt. Jharkhand, Satyanand Bokta, Minister Govt. of Jharkhand and Shri Arun Kumar Singh, CEO IndiaOne. Asangba Chuba Ao, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation and other officials from MoCA, Government of Jharkhand, AAI and IndiaOne were also present.
