He was speaking after inaugurating the Mega Job Fair held at Bhandarkars’ College, Kundapur today.

The event was organized by Karnataka Skill Development Corporation, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood Department, District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, and Employment Exchange Office, Udupi.

“Karnataka has the highest number of talented young in the entire country. But they lack the necessary information they need to get their dream job. Therefore, the Skill Connect Portal, which would provide information about job seekers, employers, and skill development will be launched on July 15. Job seekers can virtually get information about the qualifications, and skills needed for their dream job, and also information about available jobs and complete details of employment providing agencies,” he said.

“Karnataka tops the list of talented states in the country and there is no dearth of jobs in the state. But there is a shortage of those joining the job. A large number of people from other states are coming to the state in search of jobs. The talented people here lack technical skills. To encourage this, the state has adopted a national education policy through which technical skills are compulsorily imparted in education,” he added.

The Minister said that for those who go abroad from the state for employment all necessary information, assistance, passport, and other facilities are being provided through IMC Centers. To provide skill-based education in the state there are 1,200 ITI colleges with 1.5 lakh students. About 75,000 students are in Polytechnic Colleges. All the districts have JTTC Colleges. There is no dearth of seats in technical colleges.

Backward Classes, Welfare Department, and Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary was present. Kundapur Municipality President Veena Bhaskar Mendon presided over the function. Karnataka Food Corporation Vice-President Kiran Kodgi, Municipal Vice-President Sandeep Kharvi, Bhandarkars’ College Governing Council Member Shantaram Prabhu, and Principal of PU College Dr. G M Gonda were present.
