Rangappa Kamat was a leading light for the youth in entrepreneurship: Shrinivas Dempo
Mangaluru, June 18, 2022: Rangappa Kamat inspired youth with his enterprising spirit. His portrait at the World Konkani Hall of Fame will continue to inspire future generations said Shrinivas V. Dempo, Chairman, Dempo Group of Industries, Goa.
He was speaking after unveiling the portrait of Late Rangappa Panduranga Kamat, the doyen of the Hotel Industry and founder of Kamat Group of Hotels at World Konkani Hall of Fame, World Konkani Centre, Mangaluru on June 18.
“June 18 is commemorated as Goa Revolution Day. On this day in 1948, Ram Manohar Lohiya ignited the Revolution for the liberation of Goa. I am happy to unveil the portrait of Rangappa Kamat who revolutionized the hotel industry and gave jobs and aspirations to thousands of youth of his time. It is heartening to note World Konkani Centre has installed the World Konkani Hall of Fame to inspire youth in remembrance of elders of the Community,” he said.
Shrinivas Dempo appreciated the Social Development initiatives of the World Konkani Centre and lauded the efforts of the centre in striving to preserve the Konkani Language and Culture.
He also remembered the relentless efforts of the founder of the World Konkani Centre, Late Basti Vaman Shenoy.
Ramachandra Rangappa Kamat, son of late Rangappa Kamat, and Chairman of Rangappa Kamat Group of Hotels was the Guest of honor.
He thanked World Konkani Centre for honoring Rangappa Kamat by installing his portrait at the Hall of Fame.
“The Kamat group is marching in the path laid by founder Rangappa Kamat in providing high-quality hygienic vegetarian food to the common people. The group will continue to uphold all the ethos instilled by Rangappa Kamat,” he said.
Nandagopal Shenoy, President, Konkani Bhas Ani Sanskriti Prathistan, welcomed the guests. He presented a short introduction of new projects at the World Konkani Centre.
Pradeep G. Pai, Secretary, Vishwa Konkani Student Scholarship Programme delivered the felicitation speech. Giridhar Kamath, Secretary presented the vote of thanks. Gurudath Bantwalkar, CEO, World Konkani Centre compered the program. Trustees and members were present.
