State’s first floating bridge inaugurated at Malpe
Udupi, May 06, 2022: After various types of water sports, para sailing and Sea Walk, the Malpe beach will now boast of having the first floating bridge of Karnataka.
For those who want to experience the sea waves below their feet, the floating bridge at Malpe is the destination.

Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat inaugurated the floating bridge at Malpe beach on Friday. He was accompanied by senior Congress leader Pramod Madhwaraj. Pramod was instrumental in starting the Malpe Sea Walk during his tenure as the in-charge minister of Udupi.
“Such innovative sports will attract people to Malpe beach. The local youths have shown keen interest in this project and have also taken various safety measures,” Raghupathi Bhat said.
The floating bridge, is situated in the sea near the Mahatma Gandhi statue.
The blue color floating bridge is 100 meters long and wide at the end. People can sit and enjoy the waves here.
Sudesh Shetty, Malpe Beach lease holder said that the bridge will be open for people who are above 5 years.
Everybody who wants to enjoy the floating bridge has to wear life jacket as a safety measure. Ten lifeguards will be on the bridge. As many as 30 lifebuoy rings will also be in case of emergency. The authorities have also arranged for a boat to ensure safety of the people.
Each person will be charged Rs 100 for 15 minutes.
