Omicron: Govt makes Covid test mandatory for travelers from three countries
Karwar, Nov 27, 2021: The state government has issued additional instructions regarding rigorous screening and testing of international arrivals. The measure is taken because of cases of Covid variant, Omicron reported from countries like South Africa, Botswana, and Hong Kong.
- The international arrivals originating from South Africa, Botswana, and Hong Kong shall compulsorily undergo RT-PCR testing for Covid-19 and only after testing negative be permitted to leave the airport/port of entry.
- All those international travelers from these three countries who have arrived in the last 15 days (from Nov 12th-27th) should be tracked and subjected to repeat RT-PCR testing.
- Those travelers who are tested positive shall be compulsorily placed under institutional isolation in a hospital for 10 days.
- It is mandatory to subject the positive samples of Whose Genome Sequencing (WGS) on a fast-track basis.
