Mangaluru, July 10: In the wake of a steep rise in the number of COVID cases in Dakshina Kannada, former Minister B Ramanath Rai asked the government to immediately start an exclusive 1,500-bed hospital in the district. 
Rai was addressing the media at the district Congress office on Friday.
“Wenlock Hospital is turned to COVID hospital. But due to this patients with other health ailments are facing trouble. The government should start an exclusive 1,500-bed hospital in our district too as it did in Bengaluru,” he said.
Rai also suggested increasing the random sampling to track COVID and also asked the government to reserve 10 ambulances in every Taluk for COVID patients.
Mangaluru City Corporation opposition leader Abdul Ravoof, Former Mayor Shashidhar Hegde, Kavitha Sanil, senior Corporator and former standing committee chairman Naveen D’Souza, Neerajpal, Santhosh Shetty and Office secretary Nazeer Bajal were present at the press meet.
