Minister Suresh Kumar assures to remove the controversial chapter from text book
Udupi, Aug 25: A promise by the Primary Education Minister Suresh Kumar to remove the controversial lesson from the textbook, has received appreciation.
Social media was abuzz about the controversial chapter in the 6th standard textbook of Karnataka state. It was alleged that some lines in the lesson hurt the sentiments of the Hindus.
When Sri Ishapriya Teertha Swamiji of Adamaru Mutt came to know about it on Monday, he immediately brought this to the notice of Education Minister Suresh Kumar through a voice message.
Within five minutes the minister responded to the message by replying though a voice message assuring to take necessary action.
“This chapter was not published this year. The book has already been sent to the students. However I will issue orders not to take up this chapter this year,” the minister assured.
“Necessary action to remove the chapter would be taken while the book is republished next year,” he added.
This move by the Minister has received great appreciation in social media.
“The Minister has replied within five minutes. We really appreciate the shows his concern and simplicity. We are thankful to him,” G Vasudeva Bhat Perampalli said in a press statement.
