Dakshina Kannada: Covid positivity rate drops below 5 percent
Mangaluru, June 2021: Dakshina Kannada district administration’s initiative of intensifying Covid testing has borne fruits and has succeeded in decreasing the positivity rate.
While the patients did not face a shortage of medicines, beds, or oxygen in the district, the only cause of worry was the high positivity rate. About 10 days ago it was more than10 percent.

Taking this seriously the district administration intensified the Testing. While the number of testing was about 3,000 to 4,000, it was doubled in the last week. In the last two days, the number of testing has crossed 10,000.
After BBMP, the Dakshina Kannada district has conducted the highest number of testing.
The testing has helped in tracking the Covid cases in the early stage. Officials concentrated the contacts and the area near the house of positive persons and conducted testing.
As a result, the spread of Covid has been controlled to a great extent. The positivity rate has decreased drastically.
While it had dropped to 7-8 percent in the last one week, on Sunday it further dropped to 4.95 percent.
