Mangaluru, March 17, 2021: With summer fast approaching, the Dakshina Kannada district administration is gearing up to tackle water crisis.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K V chaired a meeting at his office and directed the officials to take the necessary steps. He asked the Urban Local Bodies to take all measures to ensure that there is no shortage of drinking water.

“The Urban Local Bodies depend on river water for water supply. But as the water source goes dry during summer, the flow in the rivers decreases. Officials should consider the availability of water till next monsoon and supply water,” he said.

The DC who directed the officials to repair the leakages in the water supply pipeline discussed the complaints on some people taking illegal water connections from these pipelines for their agriculture.

As there are complaints about some people setting up illegal pumps to pump water from the rivers for agriculture purposes, the DC directed MESCOM officials to identify such cases and remove such illegal pumps.

Mayor Premanand Shetty, MUDA commissioner Dinesh Probationary IAS Mona Rot, and other officials were present.
