Police arrest 9 students for ragging junior
Mangaluru, Jan 22, 2021: Taking serious note of ragging in an engineering college, Mangaluru police have arrested nine students today.
The incident took place on January 10 when one Abhiraj, a first-year B Pharma student was returning to his hostel from the class in the afternoon.
Some seniors waylaid him and asked him to come to college the next day by having a hair cut. They also asked him to remove his mustache. One of them also slapped Abhiraj.
Finding that the boy had not followed their ‘instructions,’ they stopped him again on January 12 and asked him the reason. They asked him to have a haircut failing to which they would cut it themselves. On this day too one of them slapped Abhiraj.
Abhiraj filed a complaint with Mangaluru Rural police.
Based on this complaint the police have arrested nine – Jishnu (third-year BPharma), Shrikantha P V (3rd year), Ashwath (3rd year), Sayanth (3rd year), Abhiraj Rajiv (3rd year), Rahul P (2nd year), Jishnu (2nd year), Mukthar Ali (2nd year) and Mohammed Razeem K (2nd year).
