Restriction on poultry products from Kerala to DK
Mangalore, Jan 07, 2021: With Bird Flu reported in Kottayam and Alappuzha in Kerala, officials in Dakshina Kannada have initiated all precautionary measures to check the entry of the disease.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra KV held a meeting with the concerned officials at his office today and stressed creating public awareness to prevent the spread of Bird Flu.
The disease has been confirmed in poultry ducks in Kerala. As this could spread to Dakshina Kannada district too, the Deputy Commissioner asked the officials to take precautionary measures.
He said that the transport of all kinds of poultry products from Kerala should be restricted.
He stressed close watch at the birds, cleanliness at the poultry farms, and restricted human movement there.
“If there are any abnormal death or bird flu symptoms then it should be brought to the notice of the nearest veterinary agency,” he said.
The veterinarians were instructed to visit the poultry farms in the district.
