Seminar at KCCI focuses on recent EPF, social security provisions
Mangaluru, Sept 30, 2026: Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), Mangaluru Chapter, jointly organised a seminar on recent developments in Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) provisions and social security measures at the KCCI Meeting Hall here on Wednesday.
The seminar brought together HR professionals, compliance heads and industry representatives to discuss recent changes in EPF provisions and their implications for employers and employees.
KCCI president Divakar Pai Kochikar, in his welcome address, said the revision of the EPF wage ceiling from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 was the first such change in 12 years, with the previous revision having taken place in 2014. He said the revision was expected to bring more than 51 lakh workers across the country, who were previously outside the mandatory coverage of EPF, EPS and EDLI, under the schemes.
He said member organisations would have to review their payroll structures and contribution calculations from the effective date of the revision. The employer’s pension contribution for affected employees would also increase, he added.
Pai Kochikar said KCCI and NIPM had jointly organised similar awareness programmes in the past, including a seminar on the new Labour Codes. The latest programme was part of the continuing effort to help members move from awareness of regulatory changes to practical compliance.
He also thanked the EPFO Regional Office for engaging directly with the business community on the changes.
NIPM Mangaluru Chapter chairman Prabhoda KS appreciated the recent initiatives of the Central Government relating to EPF, particularly the measures aimed at widening employee coverage under EPFO and enhancing pension-related benefits.
He also highlighted the activities undertaken by the NIPM Mangaluru Chapter for HR professionals, compliance heads and industry representatives. He acknowledged KCCI’s support in organising the programme and appreciated the participation from the industry.
Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-II, Mangaluru, Sandeep Biswas, who was the chief guest, spoke about the recently introduced Labour Codes, with particular emphasis on the Code on Social Security.
He explained the provisions relating to EPF and the changes in the wage structure relevant to PF coverage and associated benefits. He also encouraged HR and industry professionals to participate in the monthly Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0 outreach programme to remain updated on EPFO provisions and developments.
Accounts Officer, EPFO, Panduranga Kini, and Enforcement Officer, EPFO, Sandeep B.C., made detailed presentations on key developments and practical aspects of EPF compliance.
The topics covered included the EPF provisions under the Code on Social Security, 2026; revision of the EPF wage ceiling from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000; ECR filing procedures following the revised wage ceiling; the Vishwas Scheme; the Employee Enrolment Scheme; and the PM-VBRY Scheme, including eligibility, benefits and implementation.
An interactive question-and-answer session enabled HR and industry professionals to seek clarifications from the EPFO officials on EPF and social security-related compliance and implementation issues.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by KCCI Hon. Secretary Vincent Cutinha.
