Melodies enthrall Mangaluru as ‘Swara Tarang’ music concert strikes a chord
Sangeet Bharati Foundation’s stellar classical music event, sponsored by Karnataka Bank, draws a massive crowd of music lovers to Ambedkar Bhavan.
Mangaluru, Sept 30, 2026: Ambedkar Bhavan transformed into a haven for classical music aficionados on Sunday as the ‘Swara Tarang’ musical extravaganza captivated a packed house. Sponsored by Karnataka Bank and presented by the Sangeet Bharati Foundation, the event delivered a stellar showcase of Indian classical music.
The evening commenced with an official lamp-lighting ceremony led by Raghavendra S. Bhat, Managing Director and CEO of Karnataka Bank, who formally inaugurated the cultural program.
The musical segments opened with a Hindustani classical vocal recital by Vidushi Ruchira Panda of Kolkata. Her performance set a serene tone for the evening and was accompanied by Satish Bhat Heggar of Uttara Kannada on the harmonium and young tabla prodigy Yashwant Vaishnav of Mumbai.
Following the vocal performance, Abhay Rustum Sapori from New Delhi took center stage, mesmerizing the crowd with a soulful Santoor recital. Yashwant Vaishnav provided rhythm support on the tabla for the Santoor performance as well.
The event drew a crowd of local music enthusiasts, artists, and citizens who stayed until the final notes faded.
Several prominent dignitaries graced the occasion, including Sangeet Bharati Foundation President Ustad Rafique Khan, Vice President Prof. Narendra L. Nayak, and Secretary Dr. Ushaprabha N Nayak. Committee members Ramesh K.G., Muralidhar Shenoy, and Soumya Kamath were also in attendance.
