Mangaluru, Jan 14, 2026: Hackathon 1.0 was organised by the Institute of Computer Science and Information Science (ICIS), Srinivas University, on January 9, 2025, featuring an eight-hour innovation challenge under the theme “Innovate. Build. Compete.”
The event was convened by Dr. Subrahmanya Bhat, Dean, ICIS, and coordinated by Prof. Swathi Kumari H, Head of the Department, MCA. Faculty members and first-year MCA students were involved in organising the programme.
The hackathon began with participant registration, distribution of problem statements, and team brainstorming sessions. The formal inauguration was held at 10.30 a.m., with a welcome address by Aifa Sheikh, a first-year MCA student. Addresses were delivered by Dr. Subrahmanya Bhat and Prof. Swathi Kumari H.
In his address, Dr. Bhat highlighted the role of hackathons in enhancing students’ practical skills and problem-solving abilities. Prof. Swathi Kumari H stressed the importance of project-based learning in meeting current job market requirements and said such initiatives help bridge the gap between academics and industry expectations.
The event was judged by Sumanth, Data Scientist at Infohire, Hyderabad, and Rajat, a freelance software developer. They evaluated the projects and provided technical guidance to participants.
More than 100 students took part in the hackathon.
