Manjeshwar: Devotion and tradition shine at Sri Ananteshwara Temple Brahma Rathotsava

Mangaluru, Nov 27, 2025: The historic Shrimad Ananteshwar Temple, acclaimed as the Hadinentu Pete Devala of the Gowda Saraswat community, came alive on Wednesday as thousands of devotees converged for the grand Brahma Rathotsava, marking the Shashti Mahotsava celebrations. The usually quiet temple town turned festive as devotees from across the country — and abroad — gathered to witness the centuries-old ritual.
The day began with an air of serenity as priests performed maha prarthane, shata kalashabhisheka and gangabhisheka in the sanctum. The fragrance of flowers and incense filled the premises as traditional music accompanied the morning rituals.
In the yagna mantap, the purnahuti was offered in the presence of Bhadra Narasimha and Subrahmanya, drawing hundreds of devotees who watched the sacred ceremony in silence. The temple courtyard erupted in colour soon after, as the deities were placed in a beautifully flower-decked Swarnalalaki and carried in a traditional pallakki utsava by volunteers.
The highlight of the day came with the Brahma Ratha puja, after which the deities ascended the towering chariot. As the ratha rolled forward, accompanied by chants, percussion and the rhythmic pull of hundreds of hands, the lanes around the temple echoed with devotion and nostalgia.
Devotees from Kerala, Karnataka, Mumbai, Gujarat, Delhi and also from abroad made the annual journey to Manjeshwar, calling the rathotsava a moment of spiritual renewal and community bonding.
