Udupi: Free Diabetic Foot Screening Camp at Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital on May 31

Udupi, May 28, 2025: A free Diabetic Foot Screening Camp will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital, Udupi. The camp is being organized by the Centre of Excellence in Podiatry & Diabetic Foot Care and Research, MAHE, in collaboration with the Manipal College of Health Professions and Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. The initiative is supported by the CSR program of RailTel Corporation of India Limited, New Delhi.
The screening camp aims to detect early signs of diabetic foot complications such as ulcers, nerve damage, and poor blood circulation. Services offered include vascular and neurological assessments, expert footwear advice, and free consultations. Participants will also receive a 20% discount on further investigations and treatment, valid until June 15, 2025.
Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Shashikiran Umakanth, Medical Superintendent of Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital, said, “Many people with diabetes lose their mobility and independence due to foot problems, which are preventable with timely screening and care. I urge diabetic patients—especially those experiencing foot pain, numbness, or tingling—to make use of this opportunity.”
Dr. G. Arun Maiya, Dean of the Manipal College of Health Professions, emphasized that early screening is key to preventing severe complications. He assured that both Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital and Kasturba Hospital are equipped to provide quality diabetic foot care.
