St. Aloysius Deemed University to Host National-Level Aloysius Fest 2024 on Aug 31
Mangaluru: St. Aloysius Deemed University is gearing up to host Aloysius Fest 2024, a one-day national-level talent festival for pre-university students. The event will be inaugurated on Saturday, August 31, at 9 a.m. in the LCRI Auditorium, announced Vice-Chancellor Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis, S.J., during a press briefing.
Actress Manvitha Kamath, an alumnus of the institution and widely recognized for her role in Kendasampige, will officially inaugurate the fest. The event will also feature author Sera Felix as the guest of honor, who will release her latest book, A Cry Heard as a Song. The inauguration will be presided over by Rev. Melwin Joseph Pinto, Superior General of St. Aloysius Educational Institutions.
Aloysius Fest 2024 will be divided into two main categories: ‘Festival of Festivals’ and ‘Cultural Festival’. The ‘Festival of Festivals’ will include 31 academic competitions spanning various disciplines, including arts, commerce, science, BCA, BBA, BVoc, and science exhibitions. The cultural segment will feature classical dance, face painting, mehendi design, waste-to-art, and other diverse competitions.
Cultural secretary Advika Shetty shared that the valedictory ceremony will be held in the afternoon, with entrepreneur and college alumnus Kanyana Sadasiva Shetty serving as the chief guest. The ceremony will be presided over by Vice-Chancellor Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis, S.J. The event is expected to attract over 1,000 participants from various colleges across 37 different competitions.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Reji John, Vance D’Souza, and other officials were also present at the press briefing.
