Grievances Raised at Janaspandana Programme to be Addressed Promptly: Udupi DC
Udupi, July 12, 2024: Udupi Deputy Commissioner Dr. K. Vidya Kumari emphasized the importance of addressing grievances raised by the public during the Janaspandana programme promptly and in accordance with the rules.
Speaking at the Karkala Taluk-level Janaspandana meeting at Pervaje Sree Narayana Guru Sabha Bhavan in Karkala, she assured that all applications received would be resolved swiftly, with updates available online via the iPGRS system.
Dr. Vidya Kumari stated that proposals for grants and other state-level issues would be submitted to the government, while local issues would be resolved as quickly as possible.
The meeting was attended by Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prateek Bayal, SP Dr. B.R. Arun K, DFO Ganapathy, ASP Siddalingappa, Assistant Commissioner Rashmi, Tahsildar Narasappa, and other officials.
A total of 92 applications were received during the programme, including 30 related to revenue department, 4 related to municipality, 6 from social welfare, 24 from the taluk panchayat, and others from various departments such as MESCOM, Animal Husbandry, Minor Irrigation, Police, Geology, Health, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Food, Tourism, National Highways Authority of India, Handicrafts, KSRTC, and RTO.
Latha, a resident of Nandalike village in Karkala taluk, raised a long-standing issue of living in a tin-sheet house without a door number or electricity connection. Responding to her petition, the Deputy Commissioner instructed MESCOM officials to provide the necessary electricity connection.
The Karnataka Bhovi Vaddara Welfare Association highlighted the plight of around 20,000 Bhovi Vaddara community members, of whom 8,000 to 10,000 work as stone-cutters. Dr. Vidya Kumari directed the Mines Department to examine and issue permits for stone-cutting activities while ensuring no blasting occurs during rock breaking.
Concerns about the deteriorated condition of a road in Annajigoli, under Inna gram panchayat, were also addressed. Dr. Vidyakumari assured that a proposal for Rs 25 lakh for road development would be submitted to the government.
Savithri Harish Kumar of Karkala taluk, who had applied for self-employment assistance from the social welfare department eight months ago, received a commitment from the Deputy Commissioner for job creation measures.
Govinda Gowda, a resident of Malekudi tribal colony in Mala village, sought the construction of a road and drainage system for the tribal colony. The Deputy Commissioner responded promptly, directing the concerned department to address the issue immediately.
