Ensure essential infrastructure in industrial areas: Udupi DC
Udupi, Dec 27, 2023: Deputy Commissioner Dr. K Vidya Kumari, during a meeting at the DC’s office, directed officials to actively support the growth of industries by ensuring essential infrastructure such as roads and other services in industrial zones.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Vidya Kumari asked KIADB officials to expedite the land acquisition process for various locations. This includes 113.59 acres in Shivapura and Kerebettu villages of Hebri Taluk, 50.42 acres in Nitte (Karkala Taluk), 101.19 acres in Uppur (Brahmavara Taluk), and 576.45 acres for UPCL.
She emphasized the need for industrialists to initiate new projects within a stipulated timeframe, utilizing the allotted land. Dr. Vidya Kumari nstructed officials to issue notices to those who have not commenced industrial activities. Citing the Dr. Sarojini Mahishi report, she highlighted the importance of achieving 100 percent local employment in D category posts within small and medium industries.
The DC instructed officials to identify suitable land for sculpture and furniture clusters in Karkala taluk and initiate cluster construction.
To enhance power supply to industrial areas, she directed MESCOM officials to prioritize upgrading works for increased capacity, ensuring uninterrupted and high-quality electricity connections. Dr. Vidyakumari emphasized collaboration between the Industries Department and customs officials to address minor issues related to exporting products to foreign countries.
Industries Department Joint Director Nagaraj V Nayak, KIADB’s Srinivasa Murthy, Deputy Director Sitarama Shetty, Small Industries Association President Harish Kunder, and others were present.
