Ujire: IT Club Inaugurated at SDM College
Ujire, September 11, 2023: “Technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, and possessing computer knowledge is imperative in today’s era. However, it’s crucial to exercise caution,” advised TN Keshava, retired principal of SDM College, Ujire.
He shared these insights as the chief guest during the inauguration ceremony of the IT Club at the Department of Computer Science. The event was held at the Samyagdarshana Auditorium of the college on Sept 11.
Reflecting on the technological journey, he remarked, “When the first computer arrived at the college 40 years ago, it had a mere 40MB of memory. Today, data storage capabilities have evolved tremendously. No matter how much we learn about technology, it always seems inadequate, as innovation in technology is incessant.”
The event saw the unveiling of the department’s poster, and a remarkable painting crafted by student Anant was presented to the department in recognition of their collective endeavor.
Dr. B. A. Kumar Hegde, the college principal, extended his felicitations to the student coordinator of the IT Club, presenting an identity card and a flower as a token of appreciation. The dais also featured Shailesh Kumar, Head of Computer Science, Akshata, Lecturer and Coordinator of the IT Club, along with student representatives K. Divya Yadav, Manish Kumar, and B. Satish, as well as lecturers and departmental students.
The proceedings were kicked off by a warm welcome extended by Byavya NU followed by an introduction of the guest speaker by department head Shailesh Kumar. The vote of thanks was delivered by Chinmayi, a student, while Nagashree Shetty compered the program. Kavya and team led the gathering in prayer.
The event marked a significant milestone in the technological landscape of SDM College, heralding a future of innovation and growth in the realm of computer science.
