Student Council Inauguration Marks the Beginning of a Promising Academic Year at Department of Commerce Manipal
Manipal, August 13, 2023 – The Department of Commerce Manipal commenced the academic year 2023-24 with the inauguration of the Student Council on August 12th, 2023.
Akshay Machhindra, Superintendent of Police, Udupi was the Chief Guest. Dr. Sandeep Shenoy, Head of the Department of Commerce presided over the event.
Addressing the gathering, Akshay Machhindra emphasized the importance of balanced contributions across all domains for a prosperous future.
“While achieving financial success deserves recognition, the matter of wise post-earning investments carries comparable importance. Grasping the concept of future value remains pivotal, yet guaranteeing a stable future carries equivalent significance,” he said.
He went on to provide additional insight into the imperative of students being ready to confront market challenges and steer through the complexities of the economy.
Emphasizing the contrast between handling growth and inflation, he also highlighted the importance of steering clear of detrimental behaviors and diversions like substance misuse. He motivated students to channel their freedom into productive pursuits and nurture hobbies rather than falling into mere habits.
In his presidential remarks, Dr. Sandeep Shenoy encouraged students to proactively address challenges and generate innovative solutions. He highlighted practical exposure as one of the unique selling points (USPs) of the institution.
The Student Council plays a pivotal role in organizing a diverse range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to foster student engagement. He emphasized the significance of moulding students into responsible and valuable global citizens during their time at the institution.
The event culminated in the administration of the oath of office to the student office bearers of the council, followed by the distribution of office badges.
Dr. Everil Fernandes welcomed the gathering, Dr. Rita Rani Chopra introduced the chief guest, Akanksha Dutta, President of the Student Council delivered the vote of thanks.
Faculty members including Dr. Rashmi Yogesh Pai, UG Head; Dr. Mathew Thomas Gil, Assistant UG Head; Dr. Shilpa Gopal, BBA Program Coordinator; Abhishek Rao, BCom Coordinator; Dr. Everil Fernandes, Head of Student Council; and Dr. Rita Rani Chopra, Assistant Head of Student Council, were also present.
