Udupi targets 8 lakh preventive dose by Sept end
Udupi, July 18, 2022: Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district Kurma Rao on Monday said that the district intends to administer the precautionary dose to 8 lakh citizens in the 18 to 59 age group by September 30.
He was speaking after inaugurating the free precautionary dose for the 18-59 age group at the District AYUSH Hospital premises today.
“The district has already achieved 100 percent in the first and second doses for the 18 + age group. The government has decided to provide free precautionary doses to the people as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Those who have completed six months after receiving the second dose can get the precautionary dose at their nearest government health centers in the district,” he said.
The DC said that the number of hospitalization was less in the third wave as most of the people in the district had received the first and second doses.
“To reduce the severity of a possible fourth wave, people should take the precautionary doses without fail,” the DC said.
At the event, various media representatives of the district received covid-19 precautionary doses of the vaccine.
District Covid vaccination in charge Dr. MG Rama, WHO Representative Dr. Kirtinath Ballal, and District AYUSH Officer Dr. Satish Acharya were present.
District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Nagabhushana Udupa welcomed the gathering. District Surgeon Dr. Madhusudhan Nayak delivered the vote of thanks.
