Udupi: Covid Vaccination Mela on Wednesdays
Udupi, June 07, 2022: Udupi district administration has decided to conduct Covid Vaccination Mela every Wednesday.
To effectively implement the COVID-19 vaccination campaign in the district, ASHA workers will visit every house. They will collect details about those who are above 60 years and are yet to take the precautionary dose and send them to the Vaccination Melas that would be held on Wednesdays. Those who are unable to go to the vaccination centers and are bedridden should be provided vaccination through mobile vaccination units, Additional DC stated in a press statement.
A committee comprising Panchayat President, members, and village task force members should hold a meeting with medical officers in the panchayat limits to identify those who are yet to receive the precautionary dose among those above 60 years of age and
vaccinate them. If necessary, a vaccination mela camp should be organized in the panchayat itself on Wednesday, or the panchayat task force members, ASHA workers, and community leaders should persuade and get them vaccinated. Within the city limits, a meeting will be held with the chairpersons and members of urban local bodies to administer the vaccine.
The gram panchayat and ULBs should make announcements through the mic about the vaccination mela. All the
health workers and frontline workers within the jurisdiction of the health institution should be given the precautionary dose, the Additional DC stated.
Covishield vaccine is available at Adarsh Hospital, Chinmayi Hospital and Vinaya Hospital in Kundapur, and Adarsh and Mitra Hospital in Udupi. Those within the age group of 18-59 can make use of this paid vaccination.
