Kasturba Hospital Blood Center bags ISBT Award for Developing Countries 2022
Manipal, June 7, 2022: Kasturba Hospital Blood Center has been conferred with ISBT Award for Developing Country at the opening ceremony of the 37th International Congress of the International Society of Blood Transfusion.
Dr. Sharath Kumar Rao, Dean, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal defined this as another feather on the cap for the Institution. The CG Muthana, Chief operating officer, appreciated the sincere and dedicated staff members of the Blood Centre who work round the clock to provide quality blood products to the needy.
Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent lauded the team behind this and said that the award is given in recognition of the significant contribution of Kasturba Hospital Blood Center in strengthening the Blood Transfusion Practices within the Country.
Accepting the prestigious international award, Dr. Shamee Shastry, director of the blood center conveyed that the blood collection, processing, testing practices, and the quality system of the center were considered for assessment.
She added that the education, training activities, publications, presentations, regional and global collaborations, and research activities of the department were also taken into account.
