Four arrested for sexual assault, murder of 8-year-old child in Mangaluru
Mangaluru, Nov 24, 2021: Mangaluru Police have succeeded in getting a breakthrough in the rape and murder case of the 8-year-old girl that took place on Nov 21 at Parari, on the outskirts of the city.
The victim is the daughter of a couple working as laborer in a Tile factory. The family hails from Jharkhand.
The accused too are from the same tile factory.
According to the police, three of the accused are laborers of the factory, the fourth one had come from Puttur to meet his friend who is one of the accused.
Victim’s family:
The victim’s family hails from Sindela district of Jarkhand. The parents working in the tile factory have four children.
The incident: On Nov 21, around 3 pm the parents found that their daughter who had gone out to play with their other children had not returned. They soon began searching for her along with the other laborers. At 6 pm they found the dead body of the child in the drain in the Tile factory premises.
Accused:
- Jay Singh is (Accused Number 1) (21 years) is from Panna district of Madhya Pradesh. Working in the Tile factory since 3 months.
- Mukesh Singh (Accused 2) (20 years) is from Panna district of Madhya Pradesh is working since 11 months.
- Manish Tirki (Accused 3) (33 years) hails from Ranchi of Jarkhand. Working in the Tile factory since 3 months.
- Muneem Singh (Accused 4) (20 years) too is from Panna district of Madhya Pradesh. Working as a laborer in Puttur. He had come to meet Manish on Nov 20.
Background:
Jay Singh and Manish Tirki were roommates. On several occasions earlier they had sexually abused the victim. A few days ago they along with Mukesh Singh had hatched a plan to sexually assault the girl. They wanted it on Sunday as the activity was less in the factory on that day.
On Nov 20 when Muneem came to meet Manish they told him about their plan and Muneem too came with them.
On Nov 21:
The four accused who saw the girl playing with the children held her mouth and took her to a room and sexually assaulted her. Jay, Manish, and Mukesh raped the girl. When the girl started shouting, Jay strangulated her and killed her.
Jay and Muneem took the body and disposed of it in the drain.
According to the police Jay and Manish stayed in the factory, Mukesh and Muneem went to Puttur.
The investigation:
The police who came to know about the sexual assault took the cases seriously. It was not an easy task as there were no strong hints. Though there were CCTV cameras, there were none near the place of the incident.
Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar formed four teams. The teams started working on every minute detail and lead. They questioned every person whom they suspected and worked on even the smallest lead. Finally, they arrested the four accused.
The police team that worked for the arrest has been given a cash reward.
