The two-day event at Sri Mahadeva Temple, the oldest one in Karwar city, attracts a huge number of devotees as the deity is the ‘Grama Devatha,’ of 18 villages.
The event is held during Karthika Masa every year.
“The Deity seated in a palanquin is taken in a procession. In the evening ‘Vanabhojana’ is held at Maha Ganapathi Temple at Sonarwada,” social worker Madhav Nayak said.
‘Kalasa,’ and ‘Chippar,’ families offer the Palanquin Seva with great devotion for centuries. The celebration concludes with the holy ‘Samudra Snana,’ on the second day.
