International Breast Cancer Awareness month: Free Painless Scan at Kasturba Hospital
Manipal, Oct 18, 2021: Breast awareness campaign and free painless Breast Scan (iBreast Scan) was inaugurated at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal today.
This program, organized for early detection of Breast Cancer, is organized as part of International Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent inaugurated the Free Scan campaign.
“Main purpose of this campaign is to create awareness on early detection and treatment of Breast Cancer. The survival rate is more and it can be completely cured if detected in the early stage. As part of this awareness campaign, a free painless Breast scan (iBreast Scan) will be done in Kasturba Hospital till Nov 15. People should take advantage of it,” he said.
Dr. Naveen S Salins, Coordinator- MCCCC, Dr. Suma Nair, Head- Department of Community Medicine, Dr. Shripada Hebbar, Head department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Dr. Karthik Udupa Head- Department of Medical Oncology were present.
Dr. Karthik Udupa gave an overview of Breast cancer. Dr. Suma Nair spoke on the role of iBreast scanning in the early detection of Breast Cancer. Suchetha Nayak compeared the program.
