Mangaluru, Aug 20, 2021: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra KV has asked the state-owned Transport Corporations to stop bus service from other districts to Dharmasthala during the weekend.

The DC has written a letter to the Managing Directors of KSRTC, Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation, and North West Road Transport Corporation.

Considering the high positivity rate in the district and the increase in the number of cases in nearby Kerala, Deputy Commissioner had issued an order banning Darshan and stay to devotees at three temples- Dharmasthala, Kukke, and Kateel on weekends. During weekdays only darshan is allowed without any sevas and tirtha prasadam.

The district also has weekend curfew.

“While the people on private vehicles are stopped at the Charmadi and Kokkada checkposts, many continue to come to Dharmasthala during weekends when the temple is shut,” the letter states.

“As strict action has to be taken to control Covid, as the temple and the guest houses are shut to devotees during the weekend, the devotees may face a problem if they visit Dharmasthala. Hence it is requested to stop the service from other district to Dharmasthala during weekends,” he stated.
