Shobhakka gets into field in her constituency
Udupi, Aug 19, 2021: She may be new to the Agriculture Ministry, but not agriculture.
Shobha Karandlaje proved this when she participated in the Deweeding event at Kadekar near Udupi today.
Wearing the traditional ‘Muttale,’ the hat prepared from areca leaf, Shobha got into the paddy field for Deweeding along with the villagers of Kadekar. She was accompanied by MLA Raghupathi Bhat and others. The women sang ‘Pad-Dhana-,’ the folk songs in Tulu while working.
Kedarothana Trust, under the leadership of MLA Raghupathi Bhat, is growing paddy in about 1,500 acres of fallow land in Udupi Assembly constituency. Transplantation was completed about a month ago. With the paddy crop growing, it is now the time for Deweeding.
Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje actively participated in the program organized by Kedarothana Trust.
Addressing the farmers she lauded the efforts of the Trust under Raghupathi Bhat.
She also spoke about the various projects initiated by the Modi government for the benefit of farmers.
“Farmers used to feel that there is no profit in agriculture. But Modi government has come with various projects to help them. People should make use of these,” she said.
