Rumors on Social media: Kota writes to Lokayutka
Udupi, July 30, 2021: Former Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has written to Lokayukta to look into the rumors spread on social media about the construction of his house.
At a time when the state cabinet is being reconstructed, messages are making rounds on social media alleging that Kota Srinivas Poojary was constructing a house worth ₹ 6 crore.
A mocking post is making rounds on social media which states that an honest politician Kota Srinivas Poojary is constructing a hut worth ₹ 6 crore.
“It is two years since I have started the work of constructing the house at 4.13 cents (5 gunta) at Giliyaru village in Brahmavara Taluk. I have purchased the land out of my income and constructing it using my money, my son’s income, and loan,” he said in the letter to Lokayukta.
“The house is worth ₹ 60 lakh. I have borrowed ₹ 35 lakh from Apex Bank and repaying it from the honorarium. I have also applied for ₹ 40 lakh at SBI Varamballi Branch,” he said.
“I have been providing all the details of income to the Lokayukta. But this allegation has hurt me. I requested the Lokayukta to look into the cost of construction considering the income of me and my son and also loans. If they find any excess money used let the Lokayukta take action against me,” he said.
“If the Lokayukta finds these rumors as baseless, then strict legal action should be taken against the rumor mongers,” he demanded.
