Alert issued as water level rises in Supa dam
Karwar, July 27, 2021: With the water level in Supa Dam nearing the maximum level, the people living downstream have been asked to shift to safer places and not to venture into the river.
Due to heavy rain in the catchment areas, the water level in the Kali river has been increasing in the last few days. While the maximum level of the dam is 564 meters, as on July 27 morning it had reached 550.75 meters.
If the inflow continues in the same manner, the dam is likely to reach the maximum level.
Keeping in the safety of the dam, the excess water may be let out anytime. “We request the people living downstream not to venture into the river and also shift themselves and take their cattle to safer places,” an announcement by KPCL Executive Engineer stated.
